Making Courgette Spaghetti with A Spirilizer
This week we were sent a Lurch Attila Hildmann Spiralizer. The Lurch Spiralizer is one of Europe’s Leading Spiralizer brands and we were really impressed with the machine. Sylvia and I decided to make Courgette Spaghetti which turned out quite nice.
The main ingredient of course was the Courgettes. We got the machine and made sure the suction feet were stable. We then chopped the ends off the courgette to enable Sylvia to stick the vegetable into the spiked grip pad. The pad was really quite strong.
We chose the correct blade for the job and then Sylvia began turning the handle which pushed the Courgette through the blade.
Making the spiral courgette spaghetti was quite fun. Sylvia enjoyed it and once we had a plate full we transferred it into a pan to boil.
I think the suction feet were really good and they ensured the spiralizer machine did not wobble. Both the handle needs winding at the top and the handle at the bottom needs pushing towards the blade to maintain pressure so mummy helped for safety reasons.
The machine had shelves on the back for storing the different blades which I think was really cool. it means your less likely to misplace blades.
Once we finished with the Spiralizer it was really quick and simple to clean and easy to store. Once the courgettes were boiled we drained the water, cooked a cheese sauce and poured the sauce over the courgettes.
The spaghetti didn’t come out perfect as it was our first attempt but it was fun and Sylvia said it was really tasty. She enjoyed making her own dinner. I think next time we would either make more boiled courgette or add less cheese sauce.
You can make all sorts with the Spiralizer including spiralized carrots, apples and potatoes. There are also a list of recipes to try and ideas that come with the spiralizer and we had a lot of fun testing it out.
Here is the recipe for Cheese Sauce.
- 2oz/50g mature Cheddar, grated
- 1oz/25g parmesan), finely grated
- 1 pint/570ml milk
- 1ยฝoz/40g plain flour
- 1ยฝoz/40g butter
- pinch of cayenne pepper
- a little freshly grated nutmeg
- salt and black pepper
Have you used a spiralizer before? Why not give one a try. It was quite fun.
Well I thought you were going to stop at the shredded part. That would have been fancy enough. Making it into a cheese sauce then totally made me hungry, looks great!
Glad it make you hungry. Thats the aim of the post to evoke feelings ๐
What a great gadget: and I love any veg turned into spaghetti. There is something very satisfying and tasty about it
Thanks. I’m glad you like the gadget. Sylvia loved her spaghetti.I wonder if she would like spirilized apple!
This would be great for a salad or something like that to give different textures and a bit of crunch! Good way to get the healthy veg in. #dreamteam
agreed. I think it would make some great salad bites!
I wish I had more space in my only one suitcase, I consume tons of courgettes and always grate them (can you imagine my fingers?). Thanks for sharing!
I think they have small manual ones which are handheld! That might fit in your suitcase well!
I got one for Christmas and used it a lot for quick salads and pasta swaps. Apples work really well and you can use it onions for bhajis!
With courgette, it’s quite wet so patting them dry will help keep their shape. It’s best to have light dressing style sauces as big wet cheese or tomato sauces will swamp them and the water from the courgette ends up diluting the sauce. What we try is to spiralise, lightly fry until warmed through and then add the sauce on top.

Onion Bhajis sound good!
Great! I was always wondering how to make this spaghetti out of a vegetable! Looks yummmy
It’s a good idea. You can do the same with lots of veg and fruits too!
really want to get a spiralizer – your spaghetti sounds fab! #TastyTuesdays
Thanks. It was fun to make.
revisiting from #DreamTeam – post before me! x
Oh nice to see you again!
Ooh, looks delicious – I would love a spiralizer! I have tried a few recipes recently which called for courgetti, but not having a spiralizer, I had to cut the courgettes into noodle shapes by hand, which I’m sure isn’t quite so nice – plus I know my kids would LOVE to have a go at making them. Thanks for sharing ๐ Eb x
Oh such a shame. Our local supermarket also sells packets of spirilized veg which is another option until you get one. ๐
I want a spiralizer. Your spaghetti looks lovely and great fun to make
Thanks. it was quite fun.
I love courgetti! Although I don’t have a spirilizer yet so I chop it all by hand. I need to get one soon.

Oh very cool. Sylvia loves her meal and and had fun testing it out!
Oh yum! I really need to think about getting a spiralizer so I can make recipes like this. It looks great.
This is a good one. I heard it sells well in England.
It’s a very nice idea because I love spaghetti!! I can eat it every day but different types ๐ It looks so good!!
Thanks. I think it may be nice with a bolognese or using the spirilizer for salad would be fantastic!
I have always wanted a spiralizer and Sylvia looked like she had so much fun making the courgetti. How are you feeling hun?? xxx
thanks Ana. It is fun. I am honestly exhausted and not too flash but I have work to do and once it’s done and I’ve had a day at Britmums I intend to take a break from the blog for a few days and the a bigger break in the summer holidays. I need to.
This looks like such fun to use!
Yes it was a fun piece of equipment to test out.
I definitely need to try this, so healthy.your little girl is so cute
Thanks Connie.
I absolutely love courgetti – we fry it for literally seconds. So much healthier than pasta x
I’ve heard frying it is a great way to keep it crisp and spaghetti shaped! Yummy!
I have a spirilizer but have yet to use it. I need to just pull it out and go for it because this looks fantastic!
Oh we had some fun! Good look Spirilizing!
That looks so easy and like a fun idea for the kids to enjoy too!
Thanks Fatima. It is a great idea fun of kids and adults.
The fun of cooking together! ๐ Glad that she likes to prepare healthy food at a young age. ๐
It is fun and good to learn healthy meals together.
Something new to try! Not sure if my kids would veer away from the usual spaghetti though but maybe my husband would be more open to it.
I wasn’t sure how sylvia would be but she enjoyed it. I think the sauce hid the taste of veg.
There’s so much that you can do with this recipe, that’s for sure! Thanks for the tips on how to make this lovely dish, the cheese sauce sounds tempting!
Oh the cheese sauce is scrumptious!
This looks delicious! I love adding courgettes into my risotto, I think they are under rated over here in Scotland – I think they are delicious!
Thats a great idea courgette in risotto. I like to add it to our shepherds pie/spag bol or meat loaf!
Sylvia is beautiful!! ๐ also, cool machine! I don’t think we have that here but it would be great for salads I think
Thanks Bettina. She is beautiful!
This food is so healthy and i think your daughter is adorable hehe
Thanks ๐
Aw fab recipe and gorgeous photos!

Looks delicious ๐ I am a big fan of spiralizers, it’s the gadget at the top of my wishlist!
Thanks Victoria. ๐ I appreciate your comment.
Ah you make it look so easy… I really want to get a spiralizer but Mr Button is convinced it will just end up being extra kitchen tat. Have you tried doing anything else? I love the sound of spiralized apple. Thank you so much for linking up to the #DreamTeam
We haven’t tried anything else. Juts the courgette for now!
OMG! I have to try this! It looks delicious!
