Egg roll in a bowl is a recipe that can easily be put together in as little as 15 minutes and is ENTIRELY keto friendly while not sacrificing on the taste buds!

While other meats can be used, freshly ground country sausage provides the perfect taste partner for the cabbage in this coleslaw mix. This egg roll in a bowl recipe is not only keto friendly, but filling and full of taste.  

What Is An Egg Roll?

A traditional egg roll is a savory roll that contains shredded cabbage, chopped pork and other fillings that is wrapped in a wheat wonton style wrapper.

Growing up in New Zealand an egg roll was known as a Spring Roll and was often available at the local Chinese takeaway.

Does an Egg Roll Have Egg In It?

No. Traditionally the casing of the egg roll does not contain egg. In fact, it was not until more recently that people began adding egg to the egg roll in a bowl recipe to add extra protein.

This recipe is a deconstructed egg roll which is prepped in the skillet and dished up in a bowl. With no casing this recipe becomes super Keto friendly and makes it a great option for anyone wanting a low carb meal.

What Makes Egg Roll In A Bowl Keto?

Egg Roll in a bowl is Keto because it has very little carbs and contains keto fats making it a great dish for those on the Keto Diet. This is also a fabulous and healthy recipe that the whole family can enjoy.

Ingredients For Your Egg Roll Recipe

  • Olive Oil 1 tbsp
  • Country Sausage 1 lb.
  • Coleslaw Mix 1 14oz bag (7cups)
  • Soy Sauce 2 tbsp
  • Ginger 1 tsp
  • Garlic Powder ½ cup
  • Green Onion ½ cup
  • Red Bell Pepper ½ Pepper
  • Orange Bell Pepper ½ Pepper
  • Red Pepper Flakes* 1 tbsp

How To Make Egg Roll In A Bowl

Heat a cast iron skillet on medium high heat until skillet is hot.

Pour olive oil in the skillet and add 1 lb country sausage and mix.

Break up the sausage into small granules and stir.

Cook the sausage until brown.

Remove the skillet from the range, and drain the grease.

Return drained sausage and skillet to range and resume heat at medium high.

Adding Flavour to Your Deconstructed Egg Roll Recipe

coleslaw mix

garlic powder

ginger

soy sauce

Stir all ingredients and simmer for 6 minutes.

Add green onions and drizzle with more soy sauce.

Spoon into a bowl, garnish with chopped onion and enjoy!
