How Your Interior Décor Can Boost Your Mood

If, like me, you spend an awful lot of time indoors, it’s important your home gives you the boost you need – the same boost you’d get if you went for a walk outdoors in the sunshine.

And according to one American study, over 90% of people agree that the décor in a room can negatively or positively affect a person’s mood.

So what changes do we need to make, if any?

Thankfully, the survey found some simple, affordable solutions that can instantly inject some vitality into your home:

Mood Boosting Light

Lighting makes a huge difference to the look and feel of your room, which is why it’s important to get as much natural light into the space as possible.

However, opening up the curtains and letting the sun glare in isn’t always ‘ambient’ – from concerns over privacy to being unable to see the TV screen, it can pose several problems.

Venetian blinds allow you to control how much sunlight (and visibility) is coming into your room, with blind companies offering a wide range of designs and colours to remain in keeping with your home.

Then, for evenings, nothing beats a table lamp or two so you can create a cosy, relaxing atmosphere, while still benefiting from reading light if you need it.

Personal Touches To Boost Your Moos

It doesn’t matter how well decorated a room is – if it doesn’t feel personal and unique to you, it isn’t going to put a smile on your face each time you walk into it.

So try to add your own stamp in each room, including pictures of your favourite memories, accessories that reflect your personality and keepsakes you’ve collected over the years.

Be sure not to clutter your rooms as this can have an opposite effect! You may want to consider decluttering.

Bright Colors

We spend a lot of time in our bedrooms (some more than others!) which is why these spaces can quickly become lacklustre, boring and uninspiring.

A simple change of bedding, the addition of bright cushions and new lighting (perhaps even blinds in here, too), can really transform the space and make it a much more welcoming, happy place.

Nothing’s going to get you down more than a pile of clutter that’s constantly making a room look untidy. If you want to boost your mood then you will need to organise! It always works for me!

Finding storage that also adds style to your interior space is a must-have. Allowing you to easily clear away any clutter, these solutions can quickly boost your mood by making a room look more inviting, not just because it’s tidier but because the storage box you’ve chosen adds some wow factor – ottomans are ideal, for example.

As you can see, by making some subtle, simple changes, you can entirely transform your space so it gives your mood a boost – as and when you need it.
