Hi, My name is Angela, I’m 35 and my husband John is 46. We live in Lancashire with our daughter Sylvia and I fight to raise awareness for Adrenal Insufficiency and Chronic Illness.
I was born in the UK but grew up in New Zealand. In 2005 I graduated University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education. I then went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Early Years Education.
Whilst working as a Head teacher, I had my daughter Sylvia. I was married at the time to a Pacific Islander from the Kingdom of Tonga. When my daughter was only a few months old my marriage broke down.
In 2010, I made the huge decision to return to the UK. After 5 years as a single mummy, I married a Yorkshireman named John.
John loves Photography and writes his own blog over at Mr Geek and Gadgets. He is an amazing Step-father and a wonderful husband.
Not long after our wedding in 2013 I collapsed and was diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency. I was subsequently diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency in 2015. My life saving steroid medication resulted in me gaining 6 stone.
Two years ago I began private Subcutaneous Hydrocortisone Infusion therapy to help me better manage my Adrenal Health. This has meant I no longer go to hospital regular for life threatening Adrenal Crisis however I still spend most of my time at home, sick and in bed.
When I first started blogging I spent almost every day In bed, hence the name Days In Bed. I suffered chronic pain, nausea, muscle weakness and brain fog.
I was often wheelchair bound and struggled to stand. The adrenal pump has allowed me to do more (in the home) as a mother and in 2016 I started a second blog called THE INSPIRATION EDIT which focuses more on fun ideas for kids, crafts and parenting.
There are two ways I can look at life. I can focus on the past and those things I’m unable to do or I can focus on managing my illness and finding ways to adapt and cope. I choose to do the latter!
Thanks for visiting the Days In Bed Blog.
